Engineerng mechancs includes the fundamental knowledge base commonly referred to as "Statics", "Dynamics" and "Solids" ("Strength of Materials"). All are derived from the application of Newton's Laws of Montion, Hooke's Law of Elastic Behavior and models of physical observations of bodies subjected to external forces that include Coulomb friction,, the center of gravity and beam bending geometry.

Although not "sufficient" by itself an understanding of the physical concepts and modeling of Engineering Mechanics fundamentals is "necessary" to the application of the synthesis and analysis skills required to solve design engineering problems involving mechanical devices. This will become apparent in the collection of Design Engineerng and Design for "xxxx" presentations.
